Welcome to my little piece of the Internet. From time to time I'll be working towards letting you all in on what's going on in our lives, maybe a little free technical help when I get around to it, and news about my job and all the other fun stuff I learn everyday. As well, I'll probably put some info in about my friends and family for those of you that want to know, and for those of you that don't, well..................the photo gallery has some nice pictures to keep you occupied ;)........
September 5, 2005 Its been a few weeks since I've blogged but this an interesting night. I am very thankful tonight for what I have. I have had the last four days off, its been great! I have had four wonderful days with the most wonderful woman in the world. I've enjoyed spending time with friends, family ( and future family), and guys that want to "adopt" my future wife. My job interview with First Energy on Friday went well for all of you keeping up with what is going on in our lives. I'm hoping that I get this job. It will be a challenge, but as some of you know, that is what I like. So we'll keep our fingers crossed on that...... So as I sign off on Labor Day 2005, thanks to all of you that continue to support Steph and I, whether it be family, friends, Vets, whoever it may be: THANK YOU! And Steph, Thanks for being You, You are so Special! :-*
October 3, 2005 Long day today, trip to Pittsburgh for nothing, but that is how it goes...... Had my interview with Microsoft on Wednesday. I interviewed for a position as a technical writer in the Windows Server Enterprise Division, we'll see what happens. Anyway I look at it, I'm pumped just to have an interview with Microsoft. They get 13,000 resumes a week, and they picked mine so I'm a happy guy. Steph is sleeping (my sleeping angel :) ), had kind of a boring day, I hate when that happens, I really wish she could find a job, just so she wouldn't be stuck at home all day. We had an awesome weekend together though, visiting Autumn Fest at Tall Oaks and just spending time together was great. She really is incredible, I wish I could work two days a week and spend five with her, wouldn't that be nice, five days with your best friend in the world.......yeah that would be awesome......... So that's about all for tonight, I'll try and be more consistent in updating my blog, hopefully we'll either be moving soon or buying a house soon, we'll let you know how things go............... (By the way, I didn't get the job with First Energy, you interview, you learn, you move on..... I know what I'm capable of, I know what I know, I know what I don't know, everyday is a learning experience...... )
Ballerina................ You know the rest :) I Love You :)
January 6, 2006 WOW! It's been a long time since I have gotten on here and reported what was going on.....Well never heard back from Microsoft, which overall, not that unhappy that I never heard back. And after months and months of waiting to get promoted, I didn't. Go figure.......I get interviewed by the biggest software company in the world one month, get turned down for a promotion a few months later.......not the greatest record in the world 0 - 3 right now. But you know what, I know what I know, I know what I know how to do, and I have some great people around me to teach me what I don't know. I am thankful that I get to learn so much all the time, and I get to learn it from some of the best in the business, who just happen to be some of the best friends I've ever had. But I will say that this is one of the most disappointing events since I've finished college. But then again, I had people that told me that I would never make it through college, those that said I would never succeed, and those that said I'd never be anything................Well I might be 0-3, but I'm still not giving up.
We just recently got back from our trip to Farmville, VA for my sister's wedding. What a long drive! Not that bad all things considered, we had a good time, and I'm happy to welcome my new brother in law in to the family, Good Luck!Anyways, we had a good Christmas in Toledo, and I'm glad we got to go out and spend the holidays with Steph's Mom, Chuck, Tim, Elizabeth and Cecil, it was good to see everyone. Other than that, I'm glad we have a weekend to just relax, I'm a bit tired of driving.... Well I hope all of you had a great holiday season, and we'll keep you up to date in the weeks to come.
There's no place like 127.0.0.1 , thanks Steph :) She knows my inner geek......
Oh and by the way, hahahahahhahahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahhahah you'll never know! \\whatcomesnext
June 13, 2006 Well, its a little bit hard to justify why it has been so long since I have written anything here. Wait, no I really think I can. Since my January 6th installment, I have been busy with a number of things......In mid February, I was appointed to the Warren County School District Board of Directors. Unless I am overlooking something, at 28 I am the youngest person to ever serve on the School Board......So this consumes around four to five nights a month, depending on what is going on, at anywhere from two hours to six hours a night (one night I attended a committee meeting for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology that started at 6 P.M. and ended 5 minutes before midnight.....So without getting involved in trying to explain my stand on making education better ( I believe in raising the bar way above state standards), helping direct personnel matters, following the laws of this wonderful Commonwealth, and doing what I can to try and make a $60+ million budget balance without raising taxes, it has been a busy five months with that. As well, work has been busy to say the least. We're currently in the middle of moving to a new Citrix Presentation Server 4 farm, and my good buddy Rob had me doing all of the printer policies for the new farm. If you want to learn more about Citrix visit www.citrix.com or www.brianmadden.com. I doubt most people can really understand what it is really all about but it is really cool stuff so..... And, then came the wedding. I have to say this, our wedding was by far the most enjoyable event of my life. It went a little too fast for me, I never felt like I got to sit back and enjoy the moment, but it was a wonderful day that I will never forget. I did, however, get to realize what all of the stress and planning was all about. To those who helped plan and help with our wedding (specifically Sandy and Chuck, Steph, Ashley, Elizabeth) you all did a wonderful job, for which I am truly thankful. Oh by the way Chuck, Tim H., and Tim N., when I whiffed on the 16th tee for the 3rd or 4th time, I wasn't just messing around, I really did miss it.......Yeah I was a little nervous, until we got to the gardens, and I saw Steph. Like I told my Dad, 99% of the reason I was nervous was because I couldn't talk to her. When I get nervous, I want to talk to Steph. So needless to say, it was a little tough until she came down the aisle. All in all, it was great to meet some people that I had heard about so many times, and at the same time, spend time with old friends and family and my new family. To two of my best friends, Phatboy and Jeremy, thanks for being there, it was awesome to hang out before and after. For all of my other friends that couldn't be there, we'll be having the second event on July 22nd so make sure you're all there. All in all, I would say it was a perfect day. Our honeymoon to Riviera Maya, Mexico was off the hook and I won't even try and explain it all on here, it would take way too long. All I can say is that it was incredible. Thanks to all of you that helped us have an enjoyable week together.
One final note, I've heard from some people that you do like to check out the website so I will do my best to try and update as much as I can. Thanks everyone!
June 25,2006 Well, there isn't much going on today. Steph and I are doing a little cleaning, watching some home improvement shows on TLC, and just spending some time together. For one day, just kind of enjoying the lazy days of summer...................Coming Soon Nate's Windows Vista Beta 2 Preview
August 1, 2006 I know, I know, I haven't been very good at updating my blog........sorry everyone. It is kind of hard to keep up with everything.....It has been a long month or two. Why can't we just go back to Mexico! LOL No we're doing alright, staying upbeat and hoping for the best. I'm enjoying being married, it is truly wonderful, I couldn't have asked for a better partner in life. Other than that, we are just hoping for a break in terms of a teaching position for Steph and we'll see what happens from there. I do know this, that there are few people that are as passionate about education as she is, and that passion is what changes lives.
August 13, 2006 I'd really like to know when people sold their souls......
August 29, 2006 Well it is almost midnight, and school starts in about 8 hours......I could very easily go off on a tangent here about education, PSSA scores, pedagogy, philosophies of education, but I won't, I will spare you all of that misery (or enjoyment depending on who you are). Instead, I'd like to take a moment to tell people how remarkable my Wife truly is...... She gets passed over for a full time teaching position; she is instead offered a nine week position. Does she lose hope and heart, heavens no, she goes full bore into creating a positive learning environment for a group of 20 or so kids, and dedicates herself to them. She has spent countless hours, including 12 hour days for the past few days getting ready for school, and that shows heart. I have never been so proud to say "that's my Wife". Unbelievable......Thank You Steph for your dedication to something that truly changes lives.... I Love You JGG
October 11, 2006 You have no idea what I am capable of...............
November 7, 2006 I wish I had something interesting to report, but for the most part, everything is status quo for the most part......I had my review today, things went well, got a raise, other than that not a whole lot is really going on. By the way, some have wondered about my previous post from October 11th. What I'm getting at is that some people don't think that I am capable of understanding, knowing, thinking, certain things, mostly due to my age. Well, if you know me at all; I think and analyze. That is one of the gifts that God blessed me with. Sometimes it is detrimental in my mind, but I think, and I would like to think that I am an out of the box thinker most of the time (that is an interesting sentence). Do I have all of the answers? I will be the first to tell you that I don't. Do I have ideas, or possible solutions? You bet. Anyways, most people have no idea what I am capable of thinking, hence the post.....
There is power in thought.
November 16, 2006 My Chemical Romance - New album rocks! Favorite song so far - Welcome to the Black Parade..
This reminds me of someone close to me who died a few years ago, my grandfather, a WWII hero, who flew a B24 during some of the most important battles of the war, including D-Day. When I was a kid, he always told me to make a stand, for those who couldn't do it for themselves, and to be a voice. To both of my grandfathers and grandmothers, some of the heroes in my life. We'll carry on.... When I was a young boy my father took me into the city |
December 24, 2006 - I got the best gift ever tonight........ My grandfathers wings :)
